Wildlights and hair bows

Grace and I ventured to the Columbus Zoo last night to see the wildlights. I had heard about them but hadn’t made it to see them since I’ve lived in Columbus. All I can say is- wow! They were beautiful. I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, me or Grace! We had such a great time walking around looking at the lights and listening to the Christmas music. I’m hoping to make it back before the end of the season as we had so much fun!IMG_1710 IMG_1706

Then tonight, the little girl who won’t let me brush her hair, let alone put a bow in it, kept bringing me hair bows (aka- “pretties”) to put in her hair. I think at one point we had 4 and a pony tail in. I managed to get a few pictures. I must bribe her a lot to take pictures for Grandma because she climbed on the rocker and said “picture, Grandma?”

Happy Holidays!

I’m sure I won’t post before Christmas so I wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Grace was posing in front of the tree again the other day. She wouldn’t take off the buckeye necklace- so I guess we are combining our two favorite things in these pictures- Christmas and the Buckeye’s!

This morning we went to COSI to play. It was rainy and chilly and I needed to get out of the house! What a difference a few months makes. We were there last around 2-3 months ago and this time Grace had so much fun running and climbing. She was much more involved in the activities and with the other kids. There also was a Dora the explorer exhibit that she loved even though she doesn’t know who Dora is.

She especially loved playing in this ambulance and medical play center. There was a button she could push to make the lights go. She played for a long time with the stethoscopes and the syringes. Maybe she is a future nurse like mama??

She had a great time being my little explorer!

Baby it’s cold outside

IMG_1626 IMG_1617

Grace is getting so big. She loved “helping”me with my leaves in the background. She soon realized that she could jump in the piles and was fearless going from pile to pile! She also loved looking through the railing and exclaiming “I see you!” to me. Her recent thing is to “cower"with her crayons. She loves to have one in each hand. So far she’s been pretty evenly favoring each hand so it’s hard to tell if she will take after her Grandpa and be a lefty- although she tends to eat left handed an awful lot.

Grace loved to help me decorate for Christmas. For every decoration that I would put up- she would help and take it down! She soon found some large Christmas bells and she loved carrying them around the house.

I was able to put up the Christmas tree last night and decorated it after Grace went to bed. We were rushing this morning and I ushered her out the door quickly so the first time she was able to see the tree was this evening. She came in the door and immediately rushed over to it. “ooooooh, Pretty!!” she exclaimed over and over and over. These pictures are her first reactions.

Go Bucks!

IMG_1567 IMG_1572
Hello? Coach? Put me in! I'm ready!

IMG_1571 IMG_1565

Grace has started taking an interest in going “potty”. I don’t think she quite gets the concept as today she kept sitting on it fully clothed but she is now telling me when she needs her diaper changed. I’m not going to discourage her but I’m not thinking she’ll be potty trained anytime soon either! Until then, she loves to sit on the potty frequently throughout the day. Of course she likes to stand in the potty as well. Silly girl.

Happy Halloween!!

Grace has quite the active social life and had 3 separate Halloween parties! We started last week with trick-or-treat at my work. They decorated the conference room and had snacks and then the kids went door to door at the patient’s rooms. It was too sweet!

Then this morning she had a Halloween party at her babysitter Heather’s house. They played pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern, did a craft and then decorated and ate cupcakes!

Then this evening we headed to my friend Katie’s house to go trick-or-treating. Grace had a great time going door to door with Mason the dragon and even held up her bucket for candy and signed (and sometimes said) thank you.  She and Mason then took over candy duty. I think they had more fun handing out the candy then getting it!

*Grace was a flamenco dancer in an outfit direct from Spain thanks to Mom and Dad and their trip in June. She even said Ole when prompted. I couldn’t get her to carry the fan or castanets however.
